BAFA is heading to The London Book Fair!

Our Director, Fiona Goh, will be part of a panel discussion on The ethics of funding: the future of UK literary festivals and prizes at 12.30pm on Wednesday 12 March 2025.

The panel will offer a deep dive on the pressing issue of ethical funding in the sector, asking: can literary prizes and festivals be ethically financed?

What are the implications of withdrawing labour from prizes and festivals? Have the concerns highlighted over the last year presented an opportunity – and urgency – to find a new model? What can this new model be?

Others speakers include representatives of English PEN, Fossil Free Books and Culture Unstained.

BAFA is a membership organisation for UK arts festivals, and we were recently joined by a group of nine leading literary festivals.
