Festival or Organisation description:
Selby Arts Festival is a new festival bringing the best and most exciting music, comedy, theatre and family events to Selby, North Yorkshire. A nine day explosion of creativity and culture, it is about transforming spaces, animating places and celebrating everything that is great about the town & the district.
The inaugural Selby Arts Festival will run from Saturday 22 to Sunday 30 July 2017 and roughly around the same time every year thereafter.
Selby Arts Festival is produced by Dep Arts, whose past work includes projects with London 2012 Cultural Olympiad & Liverpool during its year as European City of Culture. The company has worked with festivals throughout the UK and internationally including Glastonbury, Latitude, Edinburgh Fringe and Adelaide Festival in Australia so they are well placed to bring this exciting new event for Selby to life
The vision for the festival is to make Selby a more:
Fun, creative, playful and exciting place to live, work and visit for the nine days of the festival. (and inspire a year-round creative legacy thereafter)
This is a Festival for everyone; it will engage people from the Town and the wider Selby District, as well as attracting visitors from across Yorkshire and the North of England supporting the local economy and tourism infrastructure.
Over the nine days we will animate and transform a range of spaces including the world-famous Selby Abbey, The Town Hall Theatre, Summit Indoor Adventure, Selby Rugby Club and numerous outdoor spaces across the town.
