From its continuing success, Lichfield Festival is now the West Midland’s pre-eminent multi-arts Festival with a reputation for bringing world class music, arts and entertainment to the region. In 2016 the Festival celebrated its 35th birthday. Lichfield Festival also runs the annual Literature Festival, a week-long book Festival which is now 10 years old and fast becoming a regional cultural highlight in its own right.
Lichfield Festival Ltd aims to inspire creativity through performance and participation, drawing over 50,000 visitors per year from across the West Midlands and further afield, with national and international reach.
The annual programme is wide and varied and features over 100 events across mainstream, contemporary and classic genres, with the goal to ensure arts for all.
From comedy to classical music, folk to family workshops, our past performers at Lichfield Festival and Lichfield Literature have included The BBC Concert Orchestra, Paul Merton and his Improv Chums, Michael Morpurgo, Ruth Rendall, Fascinating Aida, Bellowhead, Tony Benn, Nicola Benedetti, Philip Glass, Nigel Kennedy, Alan Davies, Stephen Fry, The Halle Orchestra, Laura Mvula and the Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain. Our venues include Lichfield Cathedral and the Garrick Theatre.
Alongside our ticketed events, we run a full programme of free events including the popular Festival Market and Aspire, a year round learning and participation programme in schools and the community.
