Hampstead Arts Festival

For many years this historic corner of north west London has enjoyed an annual celebration of the arts, originally as a joint festival with Highgate and, since 2012, as the Hampstead Arts Festival.

The festival has provided an eclectic mix of music and literary events, including jazz and silent film, in some of Hampstead’s most beautiful venues. For nearly a decade the music director Eric Usadi devised imaginative programmes in tandem with his literary counterpart. But in 2020 the Covid pandemic forced the festival into hibernation and Eric decided to step down.

The festival is planning to relaunch in Spring of 2024 under its new artistic directors, cellist Gemma Rosefield and violinist Benjamin Nabarro, and the literary director Valeria Vescina. Building on its reputation for high-calibre performances, the festival will remain at the heart of Hampstead, forging new ways of engaging with the community and collaborating with local schools to extend its reach and appeal.
