Festival or Organisation description:
Canterbury Christ Church University campus is at the centre of an exciting, historic destination and our programme capitalises on the opportunity to study events in the context of the thriving local arts industry and a World Heritage Site. Volunteering opportunities are offered by a variety of our partners, including Canterbury Festival, Virgin Money London Marathon, Visit Kent, Canterbury City Council and the Marlowe Theatre. As part of the degree we teach subjects such as the event experience, service management, crisis management, marketing and the economic and socio-cultural impacts of events. We also offer students the opportunity to pitch and deliver two student events; project management underpinning the development of their operational graduate skills. We encourage students to take an international perspective, assessing events in the developing world, globalisation, and highly topical mega-events. A guest speaker programme provides valuable insights into event law, outdoor events, events environments and the project lifecycle, including health and safety, risk management, insurance and crowd control issues. The subject can be studied as Event Planning, in combination with a variety of creative subjects such as Performing Arts, Fine Art, Digital Media, American Studies and Advertising.
