Basingstoke Festival is an annual event now in its sixth year. The fringe style festival takes place over the summer months of June and July in the Basingstoke and Deane borough of Hampshire, England.
Established in 2012, the festival attracts acts of international quality, which are showcased alongside the borough’s arts and cultural organisations. The festival also highlights some of the unique borough locations, highlighting its history, cultural facilities and its outstanding green spaces.
The festival is coordinated by the council and provides the overarching brand for a broad range of events registered by individual organisers. It culminates in Basingstoke Live, a free two day event featuring multiple stages and a mix of music and dance.
In 2016 the festival included 116 events, in over 38 venues, engaging more than 40 organisations, reaching an audience of over 160,000 people. The festival has included: theatre, orchestras, choirs, dance, comedy, multicultural parades, rock festivals, film exhibitions, book readings, street performers, art installations and more.
