Foundation Festival is a brand new music and arts festival, embracing cultural diversity, a range of musical and artistic genres, environmentally friendly ethics and an ethos of raising money for charities.
Foundation Festival ?06 will be new to the South West with a capacity of 20,000 people. The event will be supported by Oxfam, Warchild and Shelter who will be a major benefactor and 4/5 select grass roots charities with a local focus.
Foundation Festival will bring together a collection of music from house to hip hop, jazz to drum n bass, acoustic to electronica across six stages, with over 200 live music acts, DJs, bands, magicians, circus and theatre performers, dancers and artists from all cultures and walks of life, varying from Chinese dragon dancers, bhangra bands and belly dancers to short movies, cabaret acts and comedians the entertainment is truly diverse including a main stage, cabaret and burlesque stage, dance tent and a new bands stage.
Foundation Festival was borne from the desire to make a difference and create a charitable event that not only contributed revenue but also provided a platform for Oxfam, Shelter and Warchild to raise awareness about their campaigns. Using Oxfam stewards across the festival site generates income for the charity, with 15% of the festival?s overall profit being donated between Oxfam, Shelter and Warchild.
Karl Belizaire, Foundation Festival Director commented:
?There is more to the festival than just the three days of the event, as festival organisers and local music lovers, we want to bring more to the South West. With a passion to develop on the wealth of music and performing arts culture rich in this area, we hope to create music and art work shops and community events in the run up to the festival to ensure its enjoyment is accessible to all ages and interests.?
Foundation festival will provide the platform to support and showcase talented artists from all backgrounds and disciplines, offering the opportunity to display their skills before a sizeable audience within inaugural event. Supported by local traders and regional and national businesses, our aim is to establish a safe and professionally run event as well as encourage greater involvement in the arts from all sections of Bristol, and the diverse communities from surrounding areas.
